This is Boone. Boone lives at the Casablanca Motel with his owner Diane. He has only one doggy friend in the world and that's Sophie, who lives at the motel too. Boone does not like other dogs and has been kept away from them since moving here and he's much more relaxed about things now that he is in the neighborhood of 12 years of age.
Diane found Boone at a shelter in Morrisville, VT and says that Boone 'rescued' her. Her heart melted when she asked to have him taken out of his cage at the shelter and he came right up to her, sat down beside her and stayed there until she had to leave. At the time, there was another family who thought they wanted to make him theirs but when they came to introduce their current dog to him, it was obvious that Boone was saving himself for Diane.
Boone is an interesting mix of 1/2 Tree Walking Coon Hound ¼ Shepherd and 1/4 who knows what. The Coon Hound in him makes him an excellent tracker and gives him his long legs. He puts his nose to the ground and off he goes without regard to anything else around him. Because of this, he must be kept on a leash at all times. Again, typical hound dog, he loves to laze around the house. He will lay on anything that gets put on the floor, clothes, pillows and more, he thinks that if it's on the floor, it must be there for him.
He loves all people but loves food more. In the 8 years he's been with Diane, he has never missed a meal nor a chance to lick the bottom of an ice cream or yogurt bowl! Although he is a big dog with long legs, he would love nothing more than to be in your lap if you'd let him.
Say hello to Boone when you visit the Casablanca Motel. He's getting quite old now but not too old to accept a pat from you when you come into the office. If you have reserved one of our pet-friendly cabins and have your dog here with you, please remember to leave your dog outside as Boone still thinks all dogs are a threat and are after what he cherishes, the love of his owner and the treats she gives him!
