Featured Pet - March 2014
This is Hummer, affectionately known as Hummie or HumVee by his owners Linda and Val. Hummer and his family live in Duryea, PA and were hit hard by hurricane Irene in the summer of 2011. The family has been visiting the Casablanca Motel for several years now and when it came time to replant their yard after the flood waters receded, we sent them home with some wild thyme that grows like mad here at the motel as we know that Hummer loves being allowed to roll around in the grass and thyme just as soon as he gets out of the car upon arrival.
Hummer found his forever home through the loss of a previous Golden Retriever in the family. He lived with Princess, a Dachshund who recently passed. Because Hummer is simply lost without Princess, Val & Linda have a deposit on a long-haired Dachshund that is currently only about 6 weeks old. We know Hummer will love this new addition and we can't wait to meet him too!
Hummer seems to have some food allergies so he eats only venison, duck and bison for his meals. He also eats just about everything that grows wild near his home in PA. His favorite activity is doing laps around the yard and taking a toy with him every time he goes outside. Sometimes he even brings these toys back into the house when he comes in. He also loves snow and can be seen, as in the photo above, simply relaxing in a snowbank.
When Hummer visits Vermont, he seems to know he is on vacation. He has claimed our new gazebo as his own and can be found there with Linda & Val relaxing and enjoying the Vermont afternoons. Come visit anytime Hummer, we'll keep you busy before that new pup comes into your home to disrupt everything you've put into place! Wishing you all the best with your new addition to the family.
